Common questions

The bubble doesn't appear

OverlAI needs the "draw over other apps" permission. Open the app, turn the overlay on, and follow the prompt to Android's settings. On some phones battery optimisation stops the overlay service; allow OverlAI to run in the background in your phone's battery settings.

Android asks for permission every time I check the screen

That's by design and required by Android: a screenshot only happens when you approve it. The app never captures anything in the background.

What does the percentage mean?

It's the detection model's estimate of how likely the image is AI-generated, with a confidence level that reflects how far the score sits from the uncertain middle. It is an estimate, not proof. Real photos can score high and AI images can score low.

Can it check videos?

No. OverlAI checks images and screenshots only. To check a frame from a video, pause it and use the bubble or the quick-check tile on what's on screen.

Why did a check use my quota when I've checked that image before?

Re-checking the same image is free: the app remembers a fingerprint of images it has scored. A cropped or re-saved version counts as a new image.

I got "Too many checks right now"

The detection service has a shared limit. Wait a little and try again. Your monthly usage is shown in Settings.

Do I need an account?

No. Every detection feature works without signing in. Sign-in only exists to remember a premium status across devices.

How do I delete my account or data?

History entries can be deleted in the app, and clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes everything on the phone. An account can be deleted from Settings, under Account, or by email. See the delete-account page for the steps.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. OverlAI is Android only. The same detector works for everyone in the browser at lmbtechnology.com/ai-image-detector.

Still stuck?

Email hello@lmbtechnology.com with your phone model, Android version and what happened, or send a bug report from the app's Settings, which includes those details automatically.
